Mold for special screws
Last year, we received a phone call from a valued client, asking if we can make a mold for a Φ7,5-thread external and internal screw.
While asking for the length of the screw, I was asking myself 'will it be hob cutting, NC lathe or screw grinding?'
The response was 'length 20mm and the molding material PPS'.
I replied that if the electro-discharge machining finishing works, then it is possible. I asked for the drawings so as to consider the design and manufacturing process.
I was met with the response "Can you really do it? I've been turned down by so many places saying it was not possible, so I was really struggling" with a hint of relief.
After a while, we received the order for the mold, and, two months later the client praised us saying "I never expected such a good sample from the first product!"

特殊ネジの金型
昨年、とある日のこと。
お得意先様より電話を受けました。
『Φ7で5条の外ネジと内ネジの金型ができるかな…』 とのご相談。
「ネジの長さはいくつですか？」と伺いながら、
頭の中では"ホブ切りか、NC旋盤か、それともネジ研削か" と考えていました。
『長さは20mmで成形材料がPPSなんだよ。』とのご回答。
「焼入れ駒ですね。放電加工仕上げで良ければ可能だと思います。設計・製造と検討しますので図面を送って頂けますか。」
『本当にできるの？出来ないって返事ばかりで困っていたんだ。』 と、胸をなでおろされた様子。
暫くして金型を受注。2ヶ月後、『初品からこんなに良いサンプルが出てくるとは思わなかった』 との賞賛の言葉を頂きました。
